Osan Sultan Naji Law Firm is a full-service commercial law firm based in Aden that was established in 2000. The firm handles a wide range of matters on behalf of its local and international client base.
Osan Sultan Naji
Osan Sultan Naji, the founder of the firm, has been a practicing lawyer for over three decades and is considered one of the most prominent female lawyers in Yemen. She has developed particular expertise in investment law, arbitration, Free Zone laws and regulations, maritime law, public-owned real estate, environmental issues, and public law. This expertise stems from her extensive experience representing and advising state-owned entities, most notably the Aden Free Zone. She also possesses significant experience advising and representing private clients—especially Yemeni-owned business conglomerates—on corporate structuring, court litigation, taxation, and commercial contract matters.
Professional Background
Admitted as an advocate before the Supreme Court of Yemen in 1999.
In the same year, admitted as an advocate for representing the Yemeni State in its cases.
Served as the General Director of Legal Affairs at the Aden Free Zone and continues to advise the Aden Free Zone and several state entities on complex legal issues.
Previously held leading roles in the legal departments of the Ministry of Construction & Housing and the Aden Local Council.
Education and Early Career
Obtained her law degree from the University of Aden in 1990.
Joined the Law Offices of Hamida Zakariya to train and subsequently qualified as a lawyer at the firm.
Trained by Judge Hamida Zakariya—the first female judge in Yemen and the Middle Eastern region—and continued her career at the firm until she was made partner
Worked on a variety of high-profile and prominent cases during her tenure at the Law Offices of Hamida Zakariya.
Community Involvement
As a testament to her commitment to social development, Osan Sultan Naji proudly co-founded the Women's Charitable Association to Combat Poverty and Safe Childhood Centre (WACP) in 1999. She continues to serve as its Secretary-General. WACP is a women-led organisation dedicated to women's empowerment, protection, child protection, education, poverty reduction, and humanitarian response.
